The issue was brought to the forefront by Opposition Deputy Leader Prasanna Acharya, who voiced concerns over the alarming rise in health complications, particularly in Bolangir and the undivided Sambalpur region. Many experts have attributed this trend to the indiscriminate use of pesticides, urging immediate government intervention.

In response to the debate, the State Agriculture Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustainable farming. This includes providing subsidies, awareness programs, and advanced training to help farmers transition from conventional to organic farming methods.
